Dota 2 Patch 7.41d Fixes Game-Breaking Hero Exploits

Valve has released the Dota 2 patch 7.41d gameplay patch, targeting critical bug fixes, game-breaking hero interactions, and cosmetic glitches. The update addresses a bizarre team-swapping exploit involving Spirit Breaker and Venomancer, resolves item backpack manipulation with Bottle, and corrects several Invoker Aghanim’s Scepter progression bugs. The patch notes, published on the official Dota 2 Website and reported via Steam, focus heavily on stabilizing hero mechanics and cleaning up Ability Draft.

Dota 2 is a highly competitive multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) developed and published by Valve, originally released on PC in 2013 and currently maintained as one of the premier esports titles in the world.

Hero and Ability Bug Fixes

The bulk of this update addresses highly specific, complex interactions between certain hero abilities that players were exploiting to gain unfair advantages in matchmaking.

  • Spirit Breaker and Venomancer Team-Swap: Fixed Spirit Breaker permanently changing teams when he reflects Venomancer’s Noxious Plague with Lotus Orb and then casts Planar Pocket on Venomancer before Noxious Plague spreads, then after it spreads to a neutral creep Venomancer uses Helm of the Dominator on that creep. Jay’s Take: This was one of the most absurd, game-breaking interactions in recent memory, effectively letting players steal enemy heroes permanently.
  • Venomancer Transmute Exploit: Fixed Venomancer being able to Transmute Spirit Breaker with Hand of Midas through the same process. Jay’s Take: An equally ridiculous bug that let players instantly kill an enemy hero with a farming item.
  • Invoker and Alchemist Aghanim’s Blessing: Fixed Invoker not receiving an Aghanim’s Blessing from Alchemist if Alchemist casts Aghanim’s Scepter on Invoker when his main inventory is full but the backpack had space. Jay’s Take: This prevents Alchemist players from wasting high-value scepter upgrades due to simple inventory management issues.
  • Invoker Duplicate Blessings: Fixed Alchemist being able to repeatedly give Invoker Aghanim’s Blessings if Invoker hasn’t chosen his Aghanim’s Scepter upgrade. Jay’s Take: This prevents a massive net worth exploit where teams could duplicate powerful buffs.
  • Invoker Refund Bug: Fixed Invoker not correctly being refunded for his Aghanim’s Blessing if Invoker has not selected an Aghanim’s Scepter upgrade and Alchemist casts Aghanim’s Scepter on him. Jay’s Take: A necessary quality-of-life fix that ensures resources are not permanently lost during complex support-core interactions.
  • Wraith King Vampiric Spirit: Fixed Wraith King’s Vampiric Spirit not turning Wraith King into a wraith if he levels up at the same time as dying. Jay’s Take: A crucial fix that ensures Wraith King players do not lose their second life mechanic due to unfortunate timing.
  • Elder Titan Astral Spirit Speed: Fixed Elder Titan’s Astral Spirit’s movement speed not taking Wind Lace into account. Jay’s Take: This restores the expected mobility and positioning utility for Elder Titan players.
  • Elder Titan Echo Stomp Shard: Fixed Elder Titan’s Echo Stomp shard not swapping places with Astral Spirit if he is being moved by another ability when the stomp goes off. Jay’s Take: This ensures reliable escape and initiation options when Elder Titan is subjected to displacement spells.

Item and System Fixes

In addition to hero-specific interactions, several item-related exploits and visual bugs have been resolved to maintain competitive integrity.

  • Bottle Backpack Manipulation: Fixed Bottle with a stored Rune being able to be moved in and out of the backpack. Jay’s Take: This exploit allowed players to bypass backpack cooldown penalties while holding active runes, providing an unfair advantage in lane sustain.
  • Lone Druid Net Worth: Fixed Spirit Bear’s permanently consumed items not counting towards Lone Druid’s net worth. Jay’s Take: This ensures accurate net worth tracking, which is vital for team economy evaluation and buyback calculations.
  • Harmonizer Neutral Item: Fixed Harmonizer not considering abilities with charges on cooldown. Jay’s Take: This ensures the Harmonizer neutral item interacts correctly with charge-based spells.
  • Earthshaker Planetfall Arcana: Fixed Earthshaker’s Planetfall Arcana not tracking combos and combo damage properly. Jay’s Take: A welcome cosmetic fix for players who paid for this premium Arcana skin.
  • Greevils Cosmetic Effects: Fixed Greevils not spawning their equipped effects. Jay’s Take: A simple cosmetic restoration for classic courier collectors.
  • Dota Labs Overlay Map: Fixed right click on Dota Labs Overlay Map not working when
